About the role

Network Operations Engineer within Apple’s Global Network Services (GNS) team, responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and advanced optical troubleshooting of the global DWDM optical WAN network (Metro and Long Haul), collaborating across cross-functional groups and mentoring others while supporting Apple’s global footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the DWDM optical network, including transponder, line system, and ROADM technologies, identifying and resolving network alarms and performance issues, and performing advanced troubleshooting to ensure network reliability and service availability.
  • Participates in a rotating duty pager schedule to provide after-hours support for network incidents and service-impacting events.
  • Requires flexibility to work scheduled shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to maintain continuous network operations.

Qualifications

  • Two to four years of professional experience in optical networking, telecommunications, network operations, or a related engineering environment.
  • Experience with Tier I/II NOC functions.
  • Solid understanding of optical network design.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and practical experience may be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering, network engineering, or a closely related technical field.
