About the role

Embedded software engineer role focused on bring-up, verification, and triage of next-generation Apple devices across multiple platforms (iPhone/iPad/Mac/Apple Watch/AppleTV/Apple Vision Pro), with emphasis on OS fundamentals, security, performance, and cross-functional collaboration under rapid product iteration.

Responsibilities

  • Bring-up, verification, and triage of new hardware platforms
  • Work collaboratively with other parts of Apple to diagnose and triage NPI issues in factory
  • Deliver high quality software at the fundamental layer of the operating system including frameworks, daemons, drivers for both factory and consumers
  • Keep security and performance in mind, enabling key features while protecting privacy and preventing fraudulence
  • Make a critical impact on the implementation and quality of Apple's next generation products
  • Travel up to 10-20%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
  • Have at least 2 years' work experience as a system or embedded software engineer
  • Highly proficient in C/C++, and object oriented programming
  • Profound understanding on Operating System concept
  • Fluent in both oral and written English
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years' work experience on system or embedded software (preferred)
  • Experience with operating systems design and kernel/bootloader development (preferred)
  • Experience with writing embedded device drivers (preferred)
  • Experience with platform bring-up or porting of operating systems (preferred)
  • Rich experience of programming on cryptography (preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of hardware platforms & processor architectures (preferred)
  • Experience of coding on server client mode software with enhanced security (preferred)
  • Proven creative, critical logical thinking and troubleshooting skills (preferred)
  • Highly self-motivated and capable of work and finish tasks alone (preferred)
  • Comfortable and adaptable in a fast-paced environment (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, excellent judgment; a self-directed, proactive approach to tackling problems and building trust (preferred)
