About the role

Mobile Equipment and Fleet Engineer for open pit mining operations, responsible for fleet design, autonomy integration, lifecycle economics, and data-driven optimization of production and support equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Fleet selection and autonomy: design the fleet, translate mine plans and site constraints into fleet requirements, specify and select equipment, evaluate performance and readiness for remote/autonomous operation, drive the autonomy roadmap, engineer autonomous integration, and plan field interactions between autonomous and manual equipment.
  • Lifecycle performance and data: own lifecycle economics, improve equipment life and performance with data and condition monitoring, build telemetry and data collection tools with the MarianaOS team, guide OEM/vendor choices and stay current with mining automation advances.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in mobile equipment engineering, fleet management, equipment maintenance, OEM applications, or technology integration in open pit mining or similar heavy-equipment environments.
  • Knowledge of machine performance and mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems.
  • Experience with autonomous or remotely operated equipment, machine controls, or retrofits; understanding deployment realities in active operations.
  • Ability to develop fleet and lifecycle cost analyses, investigate equipment data, test assumptions, and make clear recommendations balancing cost, performance, safety, and flexibility.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across operators, maintainers, engineers, and software developers.
  • Curiosity and initiative with a passion for equipment, engines, and new technology.
