Manufacturing Engineer
About the role
Manufacturing Engineer role at Charge Robotics, a YC-backed startup building robots that construct solar farms. Role focuses on scaling production of robotic systems from prototype to production, collaborating with design, supply chain, and external partners, with climate impact and potential equity compensation.
Responsibilities
- Taking the lead on building + scaling production of our state-of-the-art robotic systems that assemble solar farms in the field
- Collaborating with design engineers to ensure systems are manufacturable, cost-effective, and easy to assemble
- Developing and maintaining manufacturing documentation, drawings, and BOMs
- Supporting part qualification, incoming inspection, and supplier quality initiatives
- Making it faster and easier to build our robots and, in turn, accelerate the deployment of clean energy
Qualifications
- 4-8 years of experience bringing complex electromechanical products from prototype to production — especially systems that include metal fabrication, rigging, and heavy machinery
- Understand how to read and create mechanical drawings and manufacturing documentation
- Strong ability to communicate clearly (written/verbal) with engineers, suppliers, technicians, and leadership
- Based in or able to relocate to the SF Bay Area, and able to work 4-5 days/week from our San Leandro HQ
- Open to ~10% travel to field (solar construction sites) to work directly with our product in its deployment environment
- Excited to see our robots deployed onto actual solar farms!

About Charge Robotics
Robots that build solar farms
Charge Robotics is building robots that automate the most labor-intensive parts of solar construction. Solar has rapidly become the cheapest form of power generation in many regions. Demand has skyrocketed, and now the primary barrier to getting it installed is labor logistics and bandwidth. Our robots remove the labor bottleneck, allowing construction companies to meet the rising demand for solar, and enabling the world to switch to renewables faster.
