About the role

Lead a small team within the RO Performance Team focused on metric events, low-latency processing, and analytics for Waymo Driver metrics across real-world deployments and simulations.

Responsibilities

  • As TLM of the Event Insights sub-team, start with a small team (3-5) to work on initiatives around enrichment, understanding, and management of metric events at low latency.
  • Lead the creation of a dynamic event clustering product to produce event clusters at low latency for rapid understanding of emerging issues during new deployments of the Waymo Driver in simulation or in the real world.
  • Oversee storage and APIs for events, ensuring scalable storage and consumption APIs (pull/push) with updates from human triage or VLMs.
  • Coordinate low latency orchestration with other Waymo systems for human triage or large VLM inference.
  • Collaborate with UI teams to visualize event insights for end consumers and performance understanding.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of full-time software engineering experience, or a quantitative PhD with 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • C++ proficiency
  • Python familiarity
  • SQL familiarity
  • Management experience with a team size of 5+
  • Hands-on ability to technically lead ICs daily, including knowledge of codebase, eval and data pipelines, models, and algorithms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excited about autonomous driving, Sim+Eval, eager to learn
