About the role

Field AI is seeking a Robotics AI Engineer to contribute to calibration, localization, and mapping algorithms for autonomous quadrupeds and humanoids. The role focuses on developing production-quality code, integrating algorithms into real-world systems, and advancing geometric robot perception within the CLAM team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement state-of-the-art calibration, localization, and mapping algorithms for our autonomous quadrupeds and humanoids
  • Develop tools and metrics to validate and benchmark subsystem performance
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in C++ and Python
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and deploy algorithms into real-world systems

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with expertise in calibration, localization, and/or 3D mapping
  • Strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, probability theory, numerical optimization, 3D geometry, Lie theory, and 3D kinematics
  • Strong theoretical and practical experience with linear and non-linear state estimation frameworks for sensor fusion
  • Familiarity with LiDAR-inertial odometry, SLAM, and visual-inertial odometry algorithms
  • Experience with sensor calibration (intrinsics and extrinsics) and time synchronization
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python with modern best practices
  • Understanding of ROS and experience designing/building/deploying ROS nodes
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, independence, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
