About the role

Assistant Product Owner supporting Shield AI's delivery of mission autonomy to the USAF Collaborative Combat Aircraft program, focusing on Platform Integration within Shoal 1, owning the day-to-day health of the Shoal 1 backlog and translating customer needs into actionable epics and stories.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, cognitive systems engineering, human factors, or related field; or equivalent military/operational experience
  • 3+ years in product ownership or related field (e.g., product management for complex software or aerospace systems)
  • Hands-on proficiency with Jira and Confluence as systems of record, including epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria in agile environments
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an integrated view of a complex product across distributed documentation and disciplines
  • Willingness to become a hands-on user of the operator interface and install/run mission scenarios
  • Working technical fluency in mission autonomy, autonomous systems, flight software, ground control, HMIs, or avionics interfaces
  • Excellent written and oral communication and ability to translate technical information across audiences
  • Strong problem solving, judgment under ambiguity, and ability to work independently or in a team
  • Must be a U.S. person (ITAR) and have or be eligible for DoD security clearance (including Top Secret, SCI, SAP)
  • Ability to travel domestically 15–25%
