About the role

Senior Design Engineer to join a team of motion designers, technical artists, and engineers building custom experiences and interactions natively across Apple's ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch, Vision Pro). Collaborates with Design teams across Services (e.g., Apple Weather, Apple Pay, Apple Sports) to create polished interactions and interfaces, build prototypes, and explore new ideas. Responsible for navigation models, gesture handling, physics-based animation, code and integration support, and creating design tools and plugins.

Responsibilities

  • Bring compelling interactions and interfaces to life across Apple platforms
  • Partner with Design teams to craft polished user experiences
  • Build individual interface elements and complete prototypes to showcase concepts
  • Create multiple iterations as requirements evolve
  • Craft navigation models, gesture handling, and physics-based animation native to each platform
  • Provide code and integration support to engineering teams for complex interactions and motion
  • Create tools and plugins needed by the design team

Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience building apps or prototypes for Apple platforms — iOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS
  • Proficiency with Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit
  • Experience building polished, responsive UIs with attention to detail and motion
  • Fluency with gesture handling, Core Animation, and physics-based, interruptible animation
  • Ability to work closely with designers, and iterate quickly on ideas
  • Strong programming skills, and a passion to learn new & evolving technologies
  • Effective time management with an ability to spearhead multiple projects
  • Experience across more than one Apple platform, including tvOS, macOS, or visionOS
  • Familiarity with Metal, Core Image, Core Graphics, RealityKit, Reality Composer, or ARKit, along with familiarity with lower-level rendering and performance work
  • Experience building tools, plugins, or parameter-tuning harnesses for design workflows
