About the role

Machine Learning Engineer focusing on large-scale ML/NLP for Siri Search, ranking and query understanding. Develops models, embeddings, online learning, and NLP components; builds infrastructure for features used by Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages and Lookup; leverages petabytes of data to improve product outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build infrastructures to support features that empower billions of Siri, Spotlight, and Safari users.
  • Perform language processing, statistical analysis, and user intent analysis to support hypotheses for improving product outcomes.
  • Leverage proprietary parallel data processing platform to process web scale data to deliver product features and improvements.
  • Design & run/deploy metrics and evaluations of features/improvements using tools like grading, logs processing, pre-launch and holdback A/Bs.
  • Present results of analysis to team and leadership across Apple.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent proven experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning, retrieval and ranking for search, recommendation, or ads systems.
  • Mastery of two of following languages: Python, Go, Java, C++
  • Excellent knowledge and good practical skills in major machine learning algorithms
  • Hands-on experience in RAG, including developing, evaluating and enhancing for both retrievers and generative LLMs.
  • Excellent data analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and great team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
