About the role

Networks engineer role within Apple’s Core Network Services Operations to operate and maintain Apple’s MPLS backbone and related connectivity across global multi-vendor environments. Focus on incident response, documentation, automation, and collaboration with internal teams and external providers to ensure operational excellence and customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front line support for Apple’s MPLS backbone network, DC, Edge, Internet connectivity, and underlying metro and long-haul optical transport networks.
  • Work on tickets and break fixes, take escalations from and mentor junior team members.
  • Develop network automation playbooks.
  • Maintain and upgrade existing networks to current standards.
  • Coordinate peering expansions.
  • Contribute to technical and procedural documentation.
  • Collaborate across teams and vendors to operate and maintain network infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of network operations experience in a large scale enterprise or service provider environment.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Experience evaluating and managing outages to business critical infrastructure.
  • Ability to maintain composure and customer-service focus in a fast-moving environment.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP and various IGP protocols.
