Camera Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Design and develop high-performance compact camera modules within Apple’s Camera Technologies group. Lead camera hardware projects, collaborate with product and technology teams, and ensure manufacturability and reliability from sensor to lens.

Responsibilities

  • Design camera module structures and packaging in CAD.
  • Design injection molded, sheet metal, PCB, and other component parts.
  • Author detailed 2D manufacturing and inspection drawings.
  • Perform rigorous tolerance analysis of module designs and component parts.
  • Work with component part and camera manufacturing partners on design manufacturability and resolution of mechanical issues.
  • Author clear documentation on mechanical inspection and test requirements.
  • Direct FEA engineers on evaluation of camera designs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Optical Science, Physics, or related field.
  • Mechanical design experience using CAD 3D molding and drafting package.
  • MS degree and 3+ years relevant industry experience.
