About the role

Senior engineering leadership role to direct and integrate Apple's enterprise data platform for Wallet, Payments & Commerce (WPC). Own technical direction, integration strategy, and team development of the Foundation Data Platform that supports analytics, marketing, strategy, product management, and real-time observability across WPC products and services. Focus on extending the central platform to meet domain-specific needs, balancing what to consume, extend, or push upstream, with emphasis on scale, reliability, governance, and privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Define what to build, what to extend, and what to consume from Apple's platform; shape central platform roadmaps with clear requirements and trusted relationships.
  • Maintain credible technical depth across design reviews and manage interfaces between platforms (identity, lineage, schema contracts, observability).
  • Build teams with complementary strengths; grow engineers and leaders from within; measure team health by career progression.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of multi-quarter programs; measure success by adoption, onboarding time, data freshness, and cost.
  • Establish and sustain on-call, SLO, and incident practices for data-quality-driven systems; uphold privacy and security posture across the stack.

Qualifications

  • Seasoned leader in software and platform engineering with experience leading teams that include engineering managers, senior and staff-level ICs.
  • Experience owning data systems at petabyte scale in production (volumes, ingest rates, consumer counts).
  • Proven track record extending and integrating with a shared central platform you did not own, and influencing its roadmap.
  • Examples of securing a capability from another team's roadmap rather than building around them.
  • Hands-on background in distributed processing, streaming, and large-scale storage.
  • Proven ability to hire and grow engineering talent and build durable team structures.
  • Delivery of multi-quarter programs with significant cross-organizational dependencies.
  • Excellent written communication; ability to drive alignment through structured documents.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
