About the role

Senior Engineering Manager responsible for the end-to-end Applied AI intelligence layer and user-facing experiences across Store, Shopping, Learning, and Decision Intelligence. Leads a multidisciplinary team (applied ML, data science, product engineering including frontend and iOS) to deliver a coherent, high-craft product with global impact across 38+ locales, including 1B+ user scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Applied AI intelligence layer of the Channel Sales AIML Platform, defining how AI reasoning and domain intelligence are applied across Store, Shopping, Learning, and Decision Intelligence.
  • Own the end-to-end product architecture spanning applied intelligence and client experience (iOS, web) — ensuring the intelligence layer and the user-facing surfaces built on top of it form one coherent, high-craft product.
  • Translate AI strategy into reusable intelligence capabilities that scale coherently across products and locales.
  • Set and enforce the quality bar for applied intelligence, including correctness, safety, auditability, and global consistency.
  • Track state of the art in agentic AI, LLM reasoning, and planning/tool-use techniques; translate approaches into production designs.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to AI Product Engineering leadership; shape platform vision, priorities, roadmap.
  • Represent AI Product Engineering leadership in executive forums; unblock cross-functional decisions.
  • Communicate strategy, tradeoffs, and risk to senior leadership in a concise, business-impact-driven manner.
  • Build trust across Channel Sales, AIML, and SWE orgs; influence without formal authority.
  • Define and lead longer-term initiatives including workforce planning and organizational transformation.
  • Lead and grow a multidisciplinary organization spanning applied ML, data science, domain intelligence, and product engineering (frontend and iOS).
  • Directly manage a team of engineering and applied science managers and senior ICs; set goals and ensure technical standards.
  • Own both intelligence and experience to deliver a single coherent product; ensure end-user experiences align with AI capabilities.
  • Develop senior technical leaders across ML and product engineering to operate at system scale.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, rigor, risk-taking, and continuous learning; maintain craft standards across intelligence and user-facing surfaces.
  • Streamline processes, tooling, and resourcing to maintain startup-level speed inside a large organization.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in applied machine learning, decision systems, or large-scale AI systems.
  • 5+ years managing high-performing technical teams, including managers, across ML/data science and product engineering (frontend, iOS, or client-side).
  • Proven track record leading an AI-powered product from concept through launch at global consumer scale (1B+ users).
  • Hands-on track record shipping ML-powered products or features, ideally involving LLMs and AI agents with planning/tool use.
  • Experience presenting technical strategy and tradeoffs to senior/executive leadership; ability to handle real-time pushback and ambiguity.
  • Experience operating in high-ambiguity, low-guidance environments; capable of defining plans.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a startup-like environment inside a large organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
