About the role

Research internship focused on machine learning, computer vision, computer graphics with emphasis on 3D reconstruction, depth estimation, neural rendering, view synthesis, and image/video synthesis. Work with leading ML researchers and engineers; aim to publish findings and contribute open source code or publications.

Responsibilities

  • Identify promising research opportunities and review state-of-the-art literature.
  • Craft novel approaches, implement them as code prototypes, and plan/run large-scale experiments across multi-node, multi-GPU systems.
  • Write a paper and submit it to relevant conferences/journals; publish findings as open source code and publications where applicable.
  • Collaborate with world-class researchers outside the internship location; contribute to the Apple ecosystem’s cutting-edge technologies.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, data science, applied mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Must return to school after internship or this internship must be the final requirement for graduation.
  • 6 months dedication preferred, starting no later than March 2026.
  • Solid software engineering skills in complex, multi-language systems; Fluency in Python.
  • Experience with PyTorch.
  • Proven research expertise in machine learning and/or computer vision.
  • Publication record in relevant conferences (e.g., CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS, SIGGRAPH, etc).
  • Ability to formulate a research problem, design, experiment, implement and communicate solutions.
  • Ability to work in a diverse collaborative environment.
  • Strong mathematical skills in linear algebra, probability, optimization and statistics.
  • Action oriented.
  • Strong overall software development approach; deliver clean, well-tested code.
  • Research experience in 3D reconstruction, neural rendering, view synthesis, image & video synthesis.
