About the role

Senior Cloud Traffic Engineer responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving global production traffic infrastructure for Wallets, Payments and Commerce at Apple. Focus on reliability, observability, and service resilience in a privacy- and security-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest level of up-time and quality of service to Apple’s customers through operational quality.
  • Design, maintain, and improve global production traffic infrastructure.
  • Ownership of reliability issues using a wide variety of tools.
  • Identify areas to improve service resiliency through techniques such as chaos engineering, performance / load testing, and game days.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years cloud engineering
  • Experience with load balancing (Nginx, Envoy and Envoy Gateway), proxies (Squid) and edge deployments.
  • Familiarity with Networking, Security, Logging, and Application Monitoring
  • Maintaining customer commitments
  • Navigating the complexities of the business and service reliability
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to coach & mentor other ICs
  • Bachelors Degree in computer science, related field, or 10 years of equivalent work experience is highly desirable.
