About the role

Quality Engineering role focused on ensuring high-quality releases across platforms for Apple’s Emerging Technologies. Part of a horizontal QE group handling scalable distributed apps, No-SQL, internal search, websites/services, security systems, ML/anomaly detection, software-load balancing, etc. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop robust, automated quality solutions and advocate for quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide functional and integration QA testing for backend services and platforms.
  • Innovate and build QE automation tools and platforms with the goal of 100% automation and reduction of regression test cycles.
  • Build functional testing tools and frameworks and enhance existing automation platforms.
  • Work with multi-functional organizations to develop project schedules, execute test plans and cases, and deliver high-quality products.
  • Act as a strong advocate for quality in the product development process for software engineering.
  • Contribute to QE process improvements by identifying gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and suggesting improvements.
  • Perform API testing, website testing, iOS application testing.
  • Build test tools and automation platforms and continuously improve the QE process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and globally distributed teams.
  • Communicate effectively to stakeholders and maintain high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java) and related frameworks.
  • Relational databases (e.g., SQL).
  • Open source testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Gauge, Playwright).
  • Linux/Unix environments.
  • Automating REST-based and other web services.
  • 1+ years of experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
  • Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to automate the test process.
  • Experience reporting and analyzing quality metrics from test execution.
  • Ability to investigate, debug and triage difficult problems independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with bug tracking and test/requirement management systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Perl, Python, or Bash).
  • Proficiency in QE automation architecture, methodologies, processes, and tools.
  • Proficiency with continuous deployment systems using Maven, Git, Spinnaker, and Jenkins; define branching/tagging/code merging strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
