About the role

Formal verification architect leading the complete formal verification for single or multiple design blocks and IPs within Apple SoC/IP teams, collaborating with design engineers to develop formal specifications, verification plans, and robust verification solutions for high‑quality SoC products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete formal verification for single or multiple design blocks and IPs (CPU, Cellular and Connectivity IP, Audio and Image Processing IP, Neural Networks IP, Memory/DMA Controller, Security IP, Peripheral IP, Interconnects, Power management subsystems, etc.).
  • Develop a formal micro-architecture specification in collaboration with SOC/IP design engineers.
  • Develop comprehensive formal verification test plans.
  • Prove properties of the design, identify design bugs, and collaborate with design teams to improve micro-architecture.
  • Craft novel and creative solutions for verifying complex design micro-architectures.
  • Develop and implement reusable and optimized formal models and verification code base.
  • Architect correct-by-construction design methodologies to improve verification efficiency and productivity.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of SoC/CPU/GPU/Cellular designs, VLSI, and digital logic design and verification techniques
  • Developed formal property proofs on industrial strength designs and architectures
  • Deep understanding of pipeline architectures, memory/DMA controllers, out-of-order and speculative instruction execution hardware, bus interconnects, and cache coherence mechanisms
  • Understanding of formal verification technologies/abstraction techniques
  • Knowledge and experience in interpreting hardware specifications and using temporal logic assertion-based languages such as SVA or PSL
  • Experience in using EDA formal tools; tool development experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in any scripting language with excellent debugging skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Passion for developing world-class/innovative formal verification solutions
  • Proficiency in English
  • BS / MS / Ph.D in EE or CS is required
