About the role
We are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to take healthcare customers from scoping calls to production. The role focuses on turning manual healthcare workflows into AI-assisted automations on Asteroid’s platform, working directly with customers from day one to ensure success and feedback into product development.
Responsibilities
- Join sales and onboarding calls to scope workflows and define success criteria
- Build production workflows on the Asteroid platform using AI assistants or MCP server
- Test workflows against real portals
- Triage early failures, fix issues, and tune reliability and cost
- Act as first responder in customer Slack channels, reproduce and fix issues, escalate when needed
- Run check-ins with enterprise accounts and identify opportunities to expand use of Asteroid
- Travel for on-site customer engagements when necessary
Qualifications
- A track record of building real products with users and familiarity with scripts, APIs, logs and debugging
- Experience solving problems with LLMs and understanding trade-offs between model calls, API calls, and deterministic scripts
- Healthcare knowledge or experience building software for healthcare workflows (e.g., prior auth, eligibility checks, write-backs)
- Strong customer-facing communication skills and ability to translate customer answers into a clear written scope
- Location: San Francisco, in-office role five days a week; relocation within three months considered; visa sponsorship not available
- 1+ years of experience; strong new graduates welcome
