About the role

Role focused on bringing drone physical models (aerodynamics, propulsion, electronics, sensors, and electromechanical systems) into the simulator. Balance fidelity with performance, collaborate with domain experts, validate models against real data, and define appropriate realism targets for various use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination with Domain Experts: Work with aerodynamics, propulsion, electronics, sensors, and electromechanical systems teams to understand their models, assumptions, inputs and outputs, and delivery to the simulator.
  • Model Integration: Integrate models into the simulator software stack with clean interfaces, good performance, and maintainability.
  • Validation: Define and run tests comparing integrated models against reference data (flight logs, bench tests, manufacturer data) and report discrepancies to model owners.
  • User Needs & Fidelity Targets: Collaborate with simulator users to translate use cases into realism targets for each model, balancing fidelity, performance, and integration effort.
  • Documentation & Standards: Document integrated models, parameters, validity domains, validation results, and help standardize the model integration and validation process.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software engineering, simulation, or related engineering field.
  • Physics Understanding: Good understanding of flight dynamics and relevant physics to discuss models with domain experts and implement them.
  • Integration & Validation: Experience integrating third-party models into a larger software system and validating against experimental data.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in C++ and Python, comfortable in Linux environments.
  • Educational Background: MSc or BSc in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Applied Physics, or related technical field; equivalent professional experience considered.
