Product Engineer
About the role
HUD's mission is to build reliable, fair and open infrastructure for AI data. We’re looking for a Product Engineer to turn cross-cutting product problems into shipped experiences across HUD’s platform and marketplace, collaborating with product, design, engineering, research, and GTM teams to improve environment creation, testing, evaluation, and discovery workflows for RL environments.
Responsibilities
- Talk with users and internal teams to find friction in creating, testing, evaluating, and discovering RL environments; shape those findings into clear product priorities
- Design, prototype, and ship product improvements across HUD’s platform and marketplace, owning work from problem definition through launch and iteration
- Make agent runs, evaluation results, reward signals, and quality feedback easier to understand and act on through thoughtful interfaces and workflows
- Build the frontend and backend pieces needed to improve vendor onboarding, environment submission, review, and discovery for research teams
- Use user feedback and product signals to assess what works, refine the experience, and help product, design, and engineering make tradeoffs
Qualifications
- A record of shipping software products end-to-end, from understanding the user problem through implementation and iteration
- Strong product judgment: identify the problem behind a request, set useful scope, and make sound tradeoffs with incomplete information
- Interaction design skills with a high bar for clarity and usability in complex, technical workflows
- Full-stack engineering ability, including building polished web interfaces and backend services or APIs
- Comfort talking directly with users and using qualitative feedback and product data to improve what you ship
- Clear communication and ability to collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, researchers, and other partners
Skills
Benefits
- Competitive compensation
- 100% covered health, dental, and vision (US and Singapore)
- Lunch and dinner for in-office employees
- Company-wide holiday break (Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day) on top of PTO and paid holidays
- Equinox membership, 401k, commuter benefits (US), health/wellness stipend (Singapore)
- Unlimited access to tokens for ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, etc. (unlimited usage as per token leaderboard)
- Two top-floor offices in San Francisco and Singapore
- Annual travel budget to visit either office

About hud
Platform for building RL environments and evals
HUD (YC W25) is developing agentic evals and RL environments for Computer Use Agents (CUAs) that browse the web for frontier AI labs. Our CUA Evals framework is the first comprehensive evaluation tool for CUAs. People don't actually know if AI agents are working reliably. To make AI agents work in the real world, we need detailed evals for a huge range of tasks. We're backed by Y Combinator, and work closely with frontier AI labs to provide agent evaluation and training infrastructure at scale.
