About the role

Senior COBOL Developer position focused on development, maintenance and evolution of Mainframe applications. Requires solid COBOL experience, online and batch routines, JCL, CICS, DB2, and file handling, with ability to analyze and resolve complex issues and contribute to solution evolution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and evolve COBOL applications in online and batch routines
  • Perform technical analysis, diagnostics and problem resolution in Mainframe systems
  • Develop and maintain JOBs using JCL
  • Analyze impacts and dependencies for changes and new features
  • Maintain and evolve legacy systems considering technical and business requirements
  • Access and manipulate data, files and DB2 databases
  • Work with CICS in online applications
  • Conduct testing, validations, code analysis and fixes to ensure quality and reliability
  • Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to technical evolution of solutions
  • Support investigation and resolution of high-complexity incidents and problems
  • Document analyses, solutions, processes and maintenance performed
  • Use tools such as TSO, Debug Tools, ChangeMan, Hexavision and Jira
  • Contribute technically with the team and mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Participate actively in agile rituals and ceremonies
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to resolve issues and evolve solutions

Qualifications

  • Solid COBOL development experience including online and batch routines
  • Experience with JCL for development and maintenance of JOBs
  • Experience with CICS and DB2
  • Knowledge of file handling including PDS and sequential files
  • Experience with TSO
  • Experience with ChangeMan and Debug Tools
  • Ability to perform code analysis, problem diagnosis and impact assessment
  • Experience maintaining and evolving legacy Mainframe systems
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Good communication and collaborative work style
  • Autonomy, responsibility and ability to handle high-complexity problem solving
