About the role

Systems Administrator roles (Virtualization) at Agile Defense supporting GCC mission-critical operations at Fort Huachuca, focusing on design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of VMware-based virtual infrastructure in a DoD environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines across multiple sites.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement integrated infrastructure solutions that align with command requirements.
  • Implement and manage VMware networking components, including distributed switches and VLANs.
  • Schedule, plan, and perform system upgrades, coordinating the transition from test to production environments.
  • Monitor and optimize virtual infrastructure performance, resource utilization, and system availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to VMware technologies, including performance bottlenecks and connectivity problems, to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party providers for advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Provide technical support for system users.
  • Implement and manage comprehensive backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual machines and infrastructure components.
  • Ensure the virtual environment is compliant with DoD security policies, regulations, and best practices by implementing and maintaining STIGs.
  • Support projects aimed at enhancing the security, efficiency, or capability of the virtualized environment.
  • Develop and maintain clear, detailed documentation for virtualization architecture, configurations, and procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend new VMware technologies and solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency.
  • Mentor junior administrators to enhance the team's overall expertise in virtualization technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering
  • 0 years of experience with BS/BA, 2 years of experience with AA/AS, 4 years of experience with no degree
  • Experience in the administration and maintenance of software infrastructures and applications.
  • DoW 8140 Compliance – CompTIA Security+ or Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, Systems Security Certified Practitioner and ability to obtain VCF - Architect certification in 90 days
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
