About the role

Internship at AMD in Belfast offering hands-on hardware and software development experience across embedded design, ASIC/FPGA IP design/verification, and system integration. 14-month placement with full-time onsite work, mentorship, and exposure to multiple domains including Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Industrial & Robotics, and AI.

Responsibilities

  • Helping to develop full system solutions on our next generations of Adaptive SoCs/FPGAs.
  • Working on advance designs for future FPGA and ASIC devices.
  • You will benefit from the professional guidance of an experienced engineering team that will enable enormous opportunities for learning and self-development.
  • You will have the opportunity to work on projects that span a range of industries, including Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Industrial & Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • This internship offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience with real-world applications while learning how AMD’s embedded technologies are driving innovation across these different domains.

Qualifications

  • You are currently enrolled in a UK based University in a program majoring in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field
  • Digital circuit design and/or embedded firmware development
  • Testing using simulation tools
  • Scripting languages: Python, Tcl, and Unix shell
  • C/C++ programming skills and/or RTL development using Verilog or VHDL
  • AMD Adaptive SoC/FPGA toolchains (e.g., Vivado, Vitis, PetaLinux)
  • AMD FPGAs and system design tools
  • Development and debugging in Linux
