About the role

Internship role in Apple’s Cellular Protocol Software (CPS) team in Munich. Develop AI/ML-driven solutions to support cellular modem software verification, enhance test frameworks, and translate ideas into solutions for next-generation wireless products. Hands-on with cellular standards (LTE/5G) and AI/ML integration within engineering workflows, under mentorship, with opportunities to present to leadership at internship end.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance the current test framework to increase test capabilities for cellular modem software and firmware on virtual hardware prototypes.
  • Work with LTE/NR physical layer knowledge to validate cellular software against network simulators (proprietary or commercial).
  • Develop AI/ML-driven solutions to assist building, maintaining, and extending architectures behind wireless software delivery.
  • Translate ideas from AI/ML research into prototypes and usable solutions for wireless product teams.
  • Present internship work and findings to Wireless Technologies & Ecosystem leadership at the end of the program.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, AI/ML, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent AI-assisted software development and debugging skills (C, C++, Python, scripting) with strong algorithms and data structures fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of current and legacy cellular standards (5G NR, LTE) focusing on physical layer; basic knowledge of UMTS, HSPA, HSPA+ etc.
  • Strong fundamentals in Machine Learning and Statistics.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, technical communication, and collaboration skills.
