About the role

Senior software engineer role focused on building scalable cloud-based data solutions within Apple’s AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) under IS&T. Engineer will design, develop, test, and ship components for large-scale data exploration, analytics, reporting, and production models, leveraging cloud technologies, open-source tools, and Apple’s internal ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Drive development of new components and features from concept to release: design, build, test, and ship at a regular cadence
  • Work closely with internal customers to understand requirements and workflows, propose new features and ecosystem changes to streamline their experience of using the solutions on our platform
  • Write code, design and develop applications on cloud; tune and debug codebase, support production applications and end users
  • Independently learn new technologies and contribute to various initiatives
  • Develop enterprise-level applications on cloud with databases and APIs, ETL, queues and notification services
  • Contribute to cloud data-warehousing platforms and big data processing pipelines (Spark, Kafka)
  • Prototype and implement data visualization and data insight capabilities (e.g., dashboards, KPIs)

Qualifications

  • 7 or more years of experience developing enterprise level applications
  • Implementation experience on Cloud with databases like SnowFlake, Big Query or Cloudera
  • Programming experience with Python, Scala or Java
  • Experience in developing with SQL
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong hands-on experience in designing and development of cloud-based applications including large scale compute services, database services, APIs to design RESTful services, ETL, queues and notification services
  • Experience in Enterprise-ready Cloud Data-Warehousing platforms like Snowflake is highly valued
  • Hands-on knowledge of Spark cluster-computing framework & Kubernetes or similar containerization technologies
  • Experience developing Big Data applications using Java, Spark, Kafka is a huge plus
  • Understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and problem solving
  • Cloud technology experience on AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud
  • Data Visualization Tools: Streamlit, Superset, Tableau, Business Objects, Looker
  • Data Insights and KPIs: generation and visualization of data insights, metrics, and KPIs; basic ML models for anomaly detection, forecasting, GenAI
