About the role

SoC design machine learning engineer role at Apple focused on developing generative AI and machine learning solutions to optimize RTL Design, Verification, and Power/Performance/Area efforts across SoC design processes. Collaborates with multi-functional teams and AIML organization to deliver state-of-the-art ML-driven improvements for chip design and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement ML/Generative AI solutions to optimize RTL Design, Verification, and Power/Performance/Area efforts in SoC design.
  • Collaborate with internal multi-functional teams and the AIML organization at Apple to tailor ML solutions to domain needs.
  • Stay abreast of emerging ML and chip design technologies to keep solutions state-of-the-art.
  • Lead or contribute to generative AI pipeline development, AI evaluation/testing, and related frameworks.
  • Possibly provide leadership within the team; prior leadership experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of BS + 10 years relevant industry experience.
  • Practical experience and knowledge of generative AI and modern ML methods.
  • Experience with RAG systems, embedding models, retrieval strategies, and context optimization techniques; Generative AI pipeline development; AI evaluation and testing; AI coding assistants; AI infrastructure protocols such as MCP.
  • Experience with Deep neural networks and reinforcement learning is a plus.
  • Solid math background and understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Experience with current deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX or MLX).
  • Experience with hardware description languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL).
  • Experience with chip design and verification front end flows is a plus (UVM, Static timing analysis, CDC/RDC).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Master’s or PhD with relevant publications preferred but not required.
