About the role

Engineer focused on building automated test infrastructure and ancillary tools for Apple Spatial Audio Format (ASAF) and Apple Positional Audio Codec (APAC) software deliverables, with responsibilities spanning automated testing, CI integration, demos, and collaboration with codec/format and content teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build automated test infrastructure for ASAF and APAC software deliverables, including audio plug-ins, SDKs, command line tools, encoders, and live production deployments.
  • Design and implement automated regression suites, integrate them into CI, and develop scripted validation across releases and authoring workflows.
  • Contribute to ancillary software tools that enable content creators to work faster and act as technical point of contact for teams adopting these technologies.
  • Onboard and support engineers and content creators inside and outside Apple; prepare and run demos for leadership, partners, and the creative community.
  • Collaborate closely with codec/format engineering, content production teams, and third-party developers who integrate our tools.
  • Demonstrate high-level proficiency with professional DAWs and audio production toolchains; experience with immersive/spatial audio content; scripting/programming in at least one language; experience designing/maintaining automated test infra and CI.
  • Provide education and demos to showcase technology to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in CS, EE, Audio Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • High-level fluency with professional digital audio workstations and the broader audio production toolchain.
  • Experience mixing immersive or spatial audio content.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages with ability to build, read, and debug application-level code.
  • Experience designing and maintaining automated test infrastructure, including regression suites and CI integration.
  • Experience with immersive or object-based audio formats (e.g., Dolby Atmos, MPEG-H, Ambisonics).
  • Experience with plug-in formats (AAX, AU, or VST).
  • Experience using AI agents to accelerate development, testing, and technical support workflows.
