About the role

Technical internship focused on ultra-precision injection molding within Apple’s Hardware Engineering R&D team in Japan, supporting next-generation optical components by advancing lens manufacturing processes and developing cutting-edge optical elements.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricating precision test samples using state-of-the-art ultra-precision injection molding systems.
  • Evaluating surface finish and dimensional accuracy using high-precision 3D optical profilers and metrology tools.
  • Analyzing process data to optimize molding parameters and develop novel process capabilities.
  • Proposing and validating innovative concepts to advance current optical component manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in ultra-precision injection molding and precision manufacturing technologies.
  • Strong academic track record in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with precision/ultra-precision injection molding machines, tooling, or related laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to independently design, plan, and execute experimental trials with a creative problem-solving mindset.
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English, with excellent verbal, written, and technical presentation skills.
  • Work authorization for Japan.
