About the role

In Applied Sensing and Health (AS&H), we develop real time algorithms fusing sensing modalities to infer metrics and deliver end-to-end sensing-based features across platforms. Responsibilities include architecting, implementing and maintaining user experiences, collaborating with scientists and engineers, and potentially contributing APIs for exposing metrics to third-party developers. The role focuses on delivering interactive features for health and wellbeing at scale, with emphasis on product definition, data-driven validation, and ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement and maintain user experiences across platforms for AS&H features.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, QA, study and project managers throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Design and contribute APIs to expose metrics to third party developers or internal teams when relevant.
  • Work collaboratively on large projects with teams across human design, hardware sensing, AI/ML, and other functions.
  • Ship interactive features that impact millions of users daily.
  • Demonstrate ownership, creativity, initiative, and ability to meet deadlines; build strong relationships and seek continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science with at least 10 years of software engineering experience, 5 years in a technical leadership role
  • Extensive experience with C++, Objective-C, Swift or SwiftUI
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and how to architect complex systems for embedded devices
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail
  • Prior experience with machine learning (e.g. large language models, foundation models, CNNs, Bayesian methods)
  • Mentoring experience and passion for product definition and user experience
  • Passion for being the first user of your own features
  • Prior experience with sensors, sensor fusion, fitness and health technologies is a big plus
