About the role

Senior Manager leading a team responsible for driving strategic China regulatory and compliance work within Apple’s Services organization. Focuses on applying regulatory obligations to products, systems architecture, and data flows, managing operating partner relationships, and coordinating across US engineering, local China teams, and executive leadership to ensure service reliability, security, and compliance amid evolving China regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Define & Drive Regulatory Programs: translate local regulations, policies, and risks into concrete technical options and actionable recommendations for engineering and business leadership.
  • Strategic Partner & Relationship Management: act as US principal owner of relationships with critical operating partners in China, mapping needs and constraints to maintain productive partnerships.
  • People Leadership: lead and develop a senior team responsible for driving key China regulatory and compliance work across Services.
  • Technical Depth: evaluate how regulations apply to systems, including service architectures, backend data flows, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalable engineering solutions.
  • Executive Communication & Cross-Functional Influence: communicate with executives and leadership to drive consensus on high-stakes decisions.
  • Scaling Through Process & Frameworks: design operating processes and frameworks to scale impact across complex programs.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience leading complex technical programs in cloud or internet services
  • 4+ years of formal people management experience leading and developing senior technical teams
  • 4+ years translating legal, regulatory, compliance, or data governance requirements into technical specifications and roadmaps
  • Demonstrated technical competence evaluating service architectures, backend data flows, or cloud infrastructure
  • Proven track record managing and negotiating complex technical, operational, or business relationships with external strategic partners
  • Demonstrated excellence communicating with and influencing senior leadership across engineering, legal, business, product, and operations organizations to drive high-stakes decisions
