About the role

Offensive security researcher focusing on userland and kernel security for Apple platforms, conducting vulnerability research, exploitation, tooling, fuzzing, and ML-assisted security research across system services, apps, the kernel, drivers, hypervisors, and other critical components. Involves cross-functional collaboration, from vulnerability discovery to strengthening product security, with in-office roles in Paris and potential remote consideration for experienced candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct offensive security research across system services, apps, the kernel and drivers, hypervisors, or other components essential to the security of Apple users
  • Work in cross-functional teams with other researchers and engineering teams to evaluate and strengthen every layer of our products
  • Develop security tooling, perform fuzzing, and apply machine learning techniques to security research
  • Focus primary research on the userland software stack and the kernels of Apple platforms
  • Identify and exploit vulnerabilities leading to local privilege escalation (LPE) and other security weaknesses
  • Share findings and contribute to vulnerability remediation and product hardening

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in vulnerability research targeting operating systems for local privilege escalation (LPE), across both kernel and userland attack surfaces
  • Strong understanding of vulnerability classes and exploitation techniques (memory corruption, race conditions, use-after-free)
  • Fluency in applying AI techniques and tools (e.g., LLMs, Machine Learning) to security research
  • Deep knowledge of kernel internals (virtual memory management, system call interfaces, driver frameworks)
  • Understanding of state-of-the-art userland vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques
  • Familiarity with mitigations such as PAC or MTE
  • Fluency with tool development using C, C++, Python, Swift, or Objective-C
  • Knowledge of Apple operating systems (iOS/macOS) is a nice-to-have but not required
