About the role

Transcription Specialist role focusing on Amharic language to improve AI-driven speech recognition. Independent contractor, remote, project-based with flexible hours and scalable earnings.

Responsibilities

  • Transcribing audio recordings into text with high accuracy
  • Capturing speech exactly as spoken, including pauses, filler words, repetitions, and incomplete sentences
  • Adding timestamps to match the audio
  • Identifying and labeling different speakers in conversations
  • Marking non-speech events such as laughter, background noise, or unclear audio

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of and familiarity with spelling conventions in Amharic language
  • Fluent in Ethiopian dialect
  • Good reading comprehension skills in English
  • Stable internet connection
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to review examples and apply rules to the provided data
  • Prior experience with transcription
  • Prior experience with audio data
  • Access to a PC/laptop or an iPad
