About the role

Backend-focused role responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend software systems and infrastructure to support scalable enterprise applications and conversational AI platforms at Inflection AI.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend software services and application programming interfaces (APIs) to support production software applications
  • Build and operate distributed systems that support real time data processing, system workflows, and application integrations
  • Develop and maintain cloud based and containerized backend infrastructure to ensure system scalability, reliability, and availability
  • Implement data storage, retrieval, and caching solutions using relational and non relational databases to support backend services
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, including applied research, product management, frontend engineering, and infrastructure teams, to translate functional requirements into backend system implementations
  • Develop internal tools, pipelines, and automation frameworks to support continuous integration, continuous deployment, system monitoring, and operational efficiency
  • Monitor system performance and reliability; troubleshoot and resolve production issues; implement improvements to meet performance, uptime, and latency requirements
  • Participate in incident response activities, including on call rotations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Ensure backend systems comply with security, data protection, and access control requirements
  • Document system architecture, design decisions, and operational procedures to support ongoing maintenance and future development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Five (5) years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in software engineering or backend systems development
  • Experience developing, testing, and maintaining backend software services and APIs for production applications
  • Experience designing and implementing distributed systems to support scalable, high availability applications
  • Experience working with data storage technologies, including relational and/or non relational databases
  • Experience deploying and operating backend systems in cloud based or containerized environments
  • Experience monitoring, debugging, and resolving issues in production software systems
  • Experience collaborating with cross functional teams to translate functional requirements into backend technical solutions
