About the role

AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) within Apple’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization seeks a Software Engineer with applied AI/ML expertise to work on the Enterprise Data Warehouse and AI-powered solutions at scale, spanning real-time, near real-time, and batch data pipelines and multi-agent AI workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business challenges and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design statistical or deep learning solutions.
  • Develop solutions independently or guide others, delivering outcomes into production with governance and reliability.
  • Maintain governance of work and ensure observability across systems.
  • Collaborate across business functions (Retail, Sales, Operations, Finance, AppleCare, Marketing, Internet Services) to enable decision-making through data-driven AI solutions.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into scalable technical designs and ship end-to-end data/AI products spanning backend APIs, data services, and front-end/UI layers.
  • Build multi-agent systems/agentic workflows that coordinate retrieval, reasoning, and action steps across data pipelines.
  • Work with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) for model training/serving.
  • Develop internal data/AI-powered applications and dashboards using modern front-end/full-stack frameworks (React, Streamlit, FastAPI).
  • Brainstorm and ship POCs using AI/ML/GenAI services, managing partner communications in a fast-changing environment.
  • Possibly leverage prior enterprise domain experience (Retail, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations analytics) to inform solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 2+ years in software and applied AI/ML engineering
  • Programming proficiency in Python or Java
  • Experience building GenAI-powered applications, including RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search integrated with structured/unstructured enterprise data
  • Practical experience building AI agents or agentic workflows (planning, memory, tool use, execution loops) using frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar.
