About the role

Senior software engineer role on Apple’s Find My team, focused on designing and implementing highly available, large-scale microservices and tooling to support Find My features globally. Collaborative, fast-paced environment with remote teams; opportunity to mentor juniors, contribute to design/code reviews, and shape future scaling of microservices. Strong emphasis on distributed systems, automation, scalability, reliability, and cross-functional collaboration with product, SRE, hardware, privacy, and other engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly available, large scale deployment solutions that are scalable and reliable.
  • Partner with product, SRE and other engineering teams to bring systems to life by building necessary tools.
  • Mentor junior engineers, contribute to design and code reviews, and help shape how Find My microservices scale into the future.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver scalable, secure Find My services used by millions of users.
  • Apply software engineering skills to build tools to tackle complex distributed systems challenges at global scale.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of strong software development experience
  • Strong Java experience and ability to pick up other languages (Python, Go, Bash) for automation and tooling
  • Hands-on experience building and integrating with microservices focused on scalability and reliability
  • Hands-on experience with pub-sub architecture leveraging Kafka
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience managing and working with cloud architectures (AWS, GCP)
  • 2+ years of proficiency with Kubernetes (K8s), container runtimes, and package management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Hands-on experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Splunk)
  • Hands-on experience building tools/frameworks to manage system diagnosis
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of network security, firewalls, encryption (at rest and in transit), IAM roles, and secret management tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, cloud-native secret managers)
  • Experience leveraging LLMs or AI tooling for operational automation and workflow optimization
  • Strong ability to communicate complex infrastructure concepts to technical and business stakeholders
  • Proven track record of leading and managing enterprise-level projects or multi-functional engineering initiatives
