About the role

MacBook Air hardware system integration engineer responsible for owning electrical subsystems, defining and validating electrical designs, and collaborating across cross-functional teams to optimize performance, battery life, reliability, and manufacturability within a space-constrained laptop product.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing robust electrical subsystems and owning schematic design, simulation, debugging, and validation.
  • Design Responsible Individual (DRI) for your subsystem, presenting proposals and tradeoffs to cross-functional partners, driving technical discussions, and leading design reviews.
  • Own subsystem through mass production, partnering with manufacturing and operations to support factory builds, resolve line-down issues, investigate manufacturing issues and yield excursions, and implement design improvements that enhance product quality, manufacturability, and production efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with industry-level practical experience.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including analog and digital circuit theory, signal integrity, and power integrity.
  • Experience in circuit design in one or more areas, including power, digital, analog, high-speed interfaces, programmable logic, or wireless systems.
  • Strong PCB layout expertise spanning constrained multilayer designs, high-speed interfaces, power delivery networks, flex circuits, and cable assemblies. Proficiency with Allegro or equivalent PCB design tools.
  • Experience with electrical validation and debug using high-speed oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, BERTs, and protocol analyzers.
