About the role

Display Engineer for the development of Displays for iPhone products, collaborating across system design, display EE, mechanical, supply base management, and suppliers to deliver displays from concept to production. Leads multi-functional teams, defines display module specs for new iPhone projects, and drives issues to closure through characterization, analysis, and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an internal, multi-functional team across optical, EE, ME, process and panel design experts.
  • Collaborate with suppliers as the primary technical contact window.
  • Characterize electro-optical performance and analyze data.
  • Develop scripting for lab-level measurement automation.
  • Work with vendors and cross-functional teams on failure analysis.
  • Document and present work; review test results from display vendors, system OEMs, and internal groups.
  • Ensure display goals are met for engineering builds and initial mass production.
  • Address issues from ramp and field returns related to displays and qualification of solutions.
  • Drive open engineering issues to closure to support project needs.
  • Engage in international travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree
  • Technical experience in optical design and characterization, optical and/or human visual physics, semiconductor optoelectronics, display technologies, optical sensor technologies, circuits
  • Experience in benchtop and industry standard optical measurement systems (characterization, test, and validation)
  • Experience with programming languages used for data acquisition (Python, LabVIEW), statistical analysis (JMP, MATLAB) and/or optical simulation tools (LightTools)
  • Experience with failure analysis connecting optical device performance to process outcomes
  • Excellent project management, communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge and experience in display specific optics
  • Experience with module engineering and mass production procedures
