About the role

Senior software engineer responsible for building high-throughput, high-performance, scalable, and secure web services and applications powering Apple Online Store. Focuses on integration with Apple financial products and external payment vendors, extensive collaboration across product, design, QA, and other teams, and delivering world-class e-commerce experiences across web and mobile platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and delivering world class engineering products in a fast-paced environment.
  • Focusing on building high throughput, high performance, reliable, and global payment services that support Apple's online store.
  • Architecting and leading technical integration of Apple Online Store with ApplePay, AppleCard, and Wallet, along with international payment vendors, banks and gateways.
  • Designing and implementing innovative and highly secure new next generation e-commerce payment instruments.
  • Designing and building server web applications, RESTful web services, supporting frameworks, tools and security infrastructure to support Apple Online Store.
  • Handling production data in accordance with our privacy policy.
  • Providing support and work with cross functional teams to design solutions that extend beyond the Apple Online Store.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional work experience.
  • 5+ years proven experience developing software in a professional capacity. Longer experience preferred.
  • 3+ years proven experience implementing, and shipping high-scale, high-performance, highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud-based distributed systems, including proficiency in API implementation (e.g. REST, RPC, GraphQL, etc.).
  • 3+ years proven experience using relational (e.g. Postgres, MySQL, etc.) and NoSQL (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.) databases, including proficiency in schema design and query optimization.
  • Proficiency with Java, including proficiency in concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in Object Oriented Programming principles, data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns (e.g. GoF), with a proven focus on implementing testable, maintainable, and extensible backend code.
