About the role

Lead and contribute technically to the Shortcuts team at Apple, focusing on enhancing the Shortcuts app by introducing new actions across iOS/macOS/watchOS/visionOS. Manage a small team of engineers while staying hands-on with code and system design to deliver elegant user experiences and robust, scalable features.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a small team of two or three engineers while actively contributing code and providing technical leadership
  • Collaborate with first-party app teams and third-party developers to introduce new actions into the Shortcuts product
  • Guide existing products, anticipate issues, and lead development of essential technologies in early stages
  • Develop features and maintain existing code, fix bugs, and contribute to overall system design
  • Build relationships across teams and craft compelling system features
  • Create fluid software aligned with new operating system and hardware features
  • Finish projects with attention to detail that delights customers
  • Focus on software architecture and maintainable code for the future
  • Balance leadership with hands-on development (for those seeking management while staying technical)

Qualifications

  • B.S in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building software and applications in Objective-C or Swift
  • Familiarity with essential tools (Xcode, lldb, Instruments)
  • Skilled at communicating, whether verbally or in writing
  • Experience leading or managing a team in a formal or informal capacity
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality
