About the role

Apple is seeking a Front End Web Accessibility Engineer to join the Online Store Frontend Team within IS&T. The role focuses on auditing and implementing accessibility for web solutions (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React) across Apple’s online store, collaborating with multiple teams, and promoting accessible, scalable frontend components and features.

Responsibilities

  • Audit new and existing internal and external solutions for accessibility
  • Work with teams throughout the entire lifecycle of a project on new features and solutions
  • Liaise and coordinate with various functions
  • Represent the team positively and effectively at all times
  • Promote accessible code solutions and accessibility requirements for reusable components within a design system
  • Review designs and copy for accessibility
  • Test with assistive technologies (e.g., VoiceOver, JAWS, NVDA)
  • Work on projects with a focus on privacy, security, and scale for the Apple Online Store

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.x guidelines and WAI-ARIA
  • Knowledge and practical experience implementing technical accessibility requirements
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React
  • Ability to provide accessible code solutions using web technologies
  • Ability to provide accessibility requirements for reusable components within a design system
  • Experience in software engineering
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of macOS and iOS VoiceOver and other accessibility features
  • Strong first-hand experience testing with assistive technologies (including screen readers such as VoiceOver, JAWS, and NVDA)
  • Experience reviewing designs and copy for accessibility
  • Familiarity with accessibility features on mobile devices
  • Experience using AI to strategically enhance accessibility implementations, validations, and features
