About the role

Senior product designer for Apple Weather within Apple’s Applications group, blending visual and interaction design to create clear, high-impact, welcoming experiences; collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to craft intuitive information architectures, navigation, and interfaces; communicates design decisions across reviews and partners with engineers and QA to deliver a final product.

Responsibilities

  • Design for delight by creating clear, high-impact experiences that are welcoming and intuitive.
  • Work on information architectures, navigation models, and interfaces that shape user perception of products.
  • Advocate for the human experience by crafting innovative, new interactions.
  • Map out user flows, use cases, and systems to make products recognizable, inclusive, and fun.
  • Simplify complex and ambiguous problem spaces into clear stories and actionable proposals.
  • Dial into details while safeguarding end-to-end seamless experience.
  • Collaborate with teammates to push concepts further and communicate decisions to a broad audience through review cycles.
  • Work alongside engineers and QA to shepherd a great final product to customers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of design experience in a design studio or as a product designer with a solid portfolio.
  • Critical thinker who is imaginative, creative, inventive, and a great collaborator.
  • Ability to apply principles of visual design (hierarchy, balance, contrast) to new interfaces.
  • Adept at visualizing, simplifying and representing data to tell a story in a beautiful, intuitive way.
  • Good understanding of design systems and patterns.
  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Sketch, Illustrator) or equivalent.
  • Passionate about detail while seeing the bigger picture.
  • Strong presenter, clear communicator, compelling storyteller, and ability to navigate competing interests with diplomacy.
  • Comfortable with loose structure and ambiguity.
  • Interest and enthusiasm for weather and science.
