About the role

Engineering manager role leading Platform Technologies within Apple Information Security. Focused on large-scale distributed systems and data platform engineering to power Apple’s security data platform, guiding a world-class team, defining long-term technical vision, and delivering platform capabilities and core infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • - Lead Platform Technologies team responsible for foundational ecosystem and core capabilities powering Apple's security monitoring
  • - Design and develop solutions enabling advanced query and indexing capabilities, core platform libraries/APIs, and data integration services for scale
  • - Collaborate with peer engineering teams and partner organizations across Apple to design, develop, and deliver platform capabilities
  • - Drive long-term technical vision while delivering near-term results
  • - Ship high-quality, production-grade services and platforms
  • - Foster collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence within the team
  • - Advocate for high-quality code, tests, CI/CD, documentation, and production reliability
  • - Influence platform reliability, performance, and scalability improvements
  • - Navigate fast-paced environment and adapt to emerging technologies
  • - Apply Scrum/Agile methodologies effectively
  • - Manage difficult situations under pressure and guide the team through security data platform initiatives
  • - Leverage experience in information security or security data platforms as applicable

Qualifications

  • - 10+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years of management experience leading software engineering teams
  • - Strong software design, problem solving, and debugging skills with hands-on experience in distributed systems or large-scale data infrastructure
  • - Proficiency in Scala, Python, Go, Swift, or Java
  • - Experience building or operating data lake, lakehouse, or large-scale analytics platforms (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg)
  • - Proven track record of shipping production-grade services and platforms
  • - Strong written and verbal communication, ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences
  • - Familiarity with indexing and search technologies (e.g., Apache Lucene, Elasticsearch)
  • - Experience with cloud infrastructure and managed services on AWS (S3, RDS, EKS) or other clouds
  • - Experience with data governance, access control, and multi-tenant platform design
  • - Exposure to GenAI or ML platform engineering (vector databases, RAG, LLM tooling)
  • - Passion for high-quality code, tests, CI/CD, documentation, and production services
  • - Experience applying Scrum/Agile methodologies
  • - Ability to foster collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence
  • - Thrives in fast-paced environments and demonstrates a learning mindset
  • - Track record of improving platform reliability, performance, and scalability
  • - Ability to work under pressure and manage difficult situations in a dynamic environment
  • - Background in information security, security operations, or security data platforms is a plus
