About the role

Engineeirng role focused on building and deploying large-scale ML/GenAI solutions for Siri in English markets, with expertise in ML or Software Engineering and practical knowledge of the other. Responsibilities span ML/NLP, data experiments, and scalable software to deliver personalized, culturally relevant Siri experiences for English users, acting as technical anchor for UK English market and collaborating with cross-functional teams across Apple.

Responsibilities

  • Lead work streams to design and implement large-scale ML and GenAI solutions for the UK English speaking market.
  • Develop end-to-end solutions across machine learning, data, and software engineering to improve Siri experiences for English users.
  • Apply advanced large language models (LLMs), agentic approaches, data generation, and retrieval-augmented methods to real-world systems.
  • Collaborate with partner teams across Apple to account for international market nuances and ensure Siri feels native to English users.
  • Contribute to production-grade software across languages and markets, including experimentation, data analysis, and inference optimization.

Qualifications

  • Professional-level fluency in English with deep familiarity with UK English culture and idiom.
  • Experience applying machine learning and NLP techniques to deliver products; solid understanding of ML concepts.
  • Strong software design and programming skills across multiple paradigms; experience contributing to large production code bases; testing and maintainability.
  • Experience working with data at scale, including building/curating datasets, analyzing results, and data-driven decision making.
  • Hands-on experience with large language models (fine-tuning, prompt/context engineering, evaluation, inference optimization) including agentic systems, tool calling, or retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Experience with speech technologies (ASR, TTS, pronunciation modeling).
  • Experience adapting models/products across languages and markets; multilingual/cross-lingual modeling, transfer learning, low-resource settings.
  • Ability to formulate research problems, design, experiment, implement and communicate solutions.
  • Product-focused mindset with strong emphasis on end-user experience.
  • Experience writing software in Python, Swift, Objective-C, C++ or C; experience on Apple platforms preferred.
  • MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
