About the role

Software Engineer role focused on building and maintaining Firefox integrations with desktop operating systems (notifications, taskbar pinning, launch on login, default browser settings) as part of the Firefox Growth team. Remote Canada role with collaboration across product, design, data science, and open, distributed teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Firefox features that help people get more value from Firefox and keep coming back, from OS notifications to taskbar and startup integrations.
  • Implement product experiments with guidance from senior engineers, including feature flags, targeting, and telemetry, to measure engagement impact.
  • Work on platform-specific challenges on Windows and/or macOS where Firefox interacts with the operating system.
  • Partner with product, design, and data science to understand goals and how success will be measured.
  • Collaborate with manager and teammates to define and scope tasks, with regular check-ins.
  • Participate in code reviews to grow understanding and maintain a high-quality codebase.
  • Help identify and fix bugs that improve the Firefox experience for users globally.
  • Engage with a distributed team and contribute to an open and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in at least one of C++, Rust, or JavaScript, and willingness to learn the others.
  • Some experience building software that runs on a major desktop platform (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  • Curiosity about users and impact—care about feature usage and outcomes.
  • Willingness to communicate clearly, ask questions, and seek feedback.
  • Ability to contribute to collaborative projects and steadily build technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Growth mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to impactful software.
