About the role

Staff Industrial Designer role focused on applying expert craft across multiple design disciplines, contributing to scalable design systems, and partnering跨-functional teams to deliver physical products that carry the Hims & Hers brand. Defined-term contract supporting the industrial design team's product roadmap for 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Bring expert craft across disciplines (sketching, CAD surfacing, CMF, prototyping) to deliver high-quality work.
  • Contribute to and scale design systems and frameworks for multiple projects.
  • Use deep technical and conceptual expertise to drive innovation while maintaining consistency.
  • Shape creative direction for major projects or programs within the portfolio.
  • Partner with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing from concept through production handoff.
  • Track tolerances, material call-outs, and vendor capabilities for production.
  • Partner across design, engineering, and operations to drive creative cohesion.
  • Lead discussions to clarify vision and priorities among cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Mentor peers and elevate collaboration and craft standards.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in industrial design with shipped physical consumer or health/medical hardware at scale.
  • Portfolio demonstrating expert craft across multiple disciplines (concept sketches to shipped products).
  • Link to portfolio must be provided with application.
  • Experience contributing to design systems, CMF standards, or scalable frameworks.
  • Ability to resolve complex, ambiguous design problems across multiple initiatives.
  • Fluency in industrial design tools: sketching, 3D CAD (Rhino/SolidWorks/Fusion 360), rendering (KeyShot), physical prototyping.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, overmolding, extrusion, sheet metal, soft goods) and DFM.
  • Experience partnering with engineering and operations to take products concept to production.
  • Ability to mentor peers and elevate collaboration even without formal management role.
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous, remote environment as a contractor embedded with a small design team; periodic travel as needed.
