About the role

Senior Software Engineer role focused on increasing efficiency and reducing cost of Fleet Response operations, partnering with cross-functional teams and onboarding engineers to sunset obsolete operational work within Waymo’s Fleet Response domain.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement measures to increase the efficiency and decrease the cost of Fleet Response operations
  • Partner with other teams at Waymo to find headroom in their shares of operational workload
  • Generate and research ideas for new optimizations of the work operators perform
  • Work with onboard engineering teams to sunset operational work that is no longer necessary
  • Contribute to cross-functional analysis and optimization efforts
  • Improve regression-detection and culprit-finding for changes that negatively impact operational metrics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study
  • 5+ years of industry experience navigating complex systems with distributed ownership
  • Experience with C++ or related structured programming language
  • A curious, investigative mindset with a bias towards action
  • Strong ability to dive into new problems and codebases
  • Experience working with non-technical cross-functional partners
