About the role

Fractile seeks a Trade Compliance Manager to build, operationalize, and maintain trade compliance frameworks, classification pipelines, and controls for its AI hardware operations and global supply chain. You will serve as the primary export compliance authority and oversee classifications, licensing, audits, and regulatory engagement to safeguard compliant growth.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Fractile’s designated Export Compliance Officer with ownership of US, UK, and relevant international export controls and sanctions compliance; primary point of contact for licenses, audits, and enforcement.
  • Lead hands-on ECCN/classifications for all Fractile technology and products; manage end-to-end export licensing processes (UK ECJU SPIRE/LITE, US BIS), end-user undertakings (EUUs), and license condition monitoring.
  • Oversee denied party screening workflows across customers, vendors, supply chain partners, and prospective hires.
  • Assist with customs compliance processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement suitable IT controls and systems.
  • Design, embed, and audit internal compliance program tailored to scale-up; integrate compliance checks and export hold mechanisms into enterprise workflows.
  • Develop and deliver practical, role-specific training on controlled technology transfers (deemed exports/re-exports).
  • Maintain audit-ready record-keeping for all exports/re-exports/tech data transfers; serve as primary operational contact for UK ECJU, HMRC, US BIS, and freight forwarders during audits or inquiries.
  • Monitor regulatory updates affecting AI hardware, semiconductor supply chains, and sanctions to rapidly adjust processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of dedicated trade compliance experience within a technology (ideally semiconductor) scale-up/multinational.
  • Practical mastery of UK export control rules (ECJU) and US rules (deemed exports, foreign direct product rules, sanctions).
  • Ability to translate complex hardware/software specs into precise ECCN classifications.
  • Experience implementing and operating automated screening systems.
  • Proven ability to partner with business teams to create smooth, proportional compliance processes that do not stall growth.
