About the role

Engineer in Apple’s Language AI team building Generative AI and agentic capabilities for Apple Services. Design, development, and deployment of AI features and agentic systems that scale across devices and dozens of languages, from prototypes to production production systems used by billions of transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve Generative AI and agentic capabilities used by other teams across Apple Services
  • Build reusable services and APIs to enable rapid adoption and scaling to new products, content, and markets
  • Build agentic systems that reason, plan, use tools, review and improve their own output
  • Define success criteria for output, build evaluations to measure and push quality higher
  • Translate Generative AI research ideas into production capabilities
  • Ensure successful deployment of features, code, data, and models in production
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, language experts, and partner teams to ensure quality and performance of features and models
  • Support millions of devices globally across macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS, Siri/HomePod
  • Work across dozens of languages (e.g., Arabic to Russian)
  • Have a major impact on how Generative AI shapes Apple Services experiences on more than a billion active devices

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Go, Scala, or Java
  • Hands-on experience building applications with Large Language Models
  • Experience with machine learning or natural language processing techniques and related projects
  • Experience building scalable data pipelines, platforms, and production services
  • Experience building Agentic features (tool use, planning, multi-agent workflows)
  • Experience with prompt optimization, Retrieval Augmented Generation, and fine-tuning
  • Experience designing evaluations for generative systems (LLM-as-a-judge)
  • Track record of taking Generative AI capabilities from prototype to production as platforms or services for other teams
  • Curiosity about language and culture; fluency in a language besides English a plus
  • Master’s or PhD preferred
