About the role

Operationally driven Industrial Hygiene Technical Program Manager to scale chemical management initiatives across Apple's global manufacturing footprint, bridging exposure science with high-volume factory realities, and establishing governance frameworks and standards for suppliers, TPAs, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and scale chemical management initiatives across the global supply chain, turning complex priorities into structured roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
  • Identify systemic chemical exposure risks in non-routine operations (NPI builds, line maintenance), establishing engineering-control models and clear executive scorecards.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations teams and toxicologists to embed industrial hygiene gates and exposure criteria into new material qualification workflows.
  • Establish the global standards and decision rights that let facilities and suppliers self-govern chemical specifications, VOC limits, and handling requirements.
  • Direct Third-Party Assessor (TPA) partners and manage technical vendor scopes of work to deliver high-integrity field exposure assessments and audits.
  • Represent Apple in industry coalitions and standards forums, advancing chemical safety practices that benefit broader manufacturing sector, not just Apple’s supply chain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of direct technical experience in industrial hygiene, occupational chemical exposure assessment, or chemical safety within manufacturing or technical consulting.
  • Proven track record leading technical programs, taking undefined challenges, and converting them into structured, executed initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical vendors, consulting firms, or Third-Party Assessors (TPAs).
  • Professional fluency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken) to lead technical engagements across global teams and regional suppliers.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally (30-50%) across APAC manufacturing facilities, with periodic international travel.
