Senior Security Engineering Manager - Agentic Detection & Threat Hunting
About the role
Senior Manager role leading the detection and threat hunting platform within Apple Services Engineering. Builds and scales a fleet-scale detection and response platform that fuses signals from hosts, applications, cloud control planes and identity, applying agentic AI to detection, triage, response and threat hunting. Technical and hands-on leadership role partnering with on-host agent team and security organizations to improve Apple's security posture.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of experienced engineers and partner with the on-host agent team manager
- Lead delivery, platform dependencies and operations with partner teams across Apple's security organization
- Lead deployment of autonomous GenAI workflows in detection and response
- Drive design and implementation of large-scale security data and detection platforms
- Scale the team (hiring, onboarding, leveling) while shipping
- Turn hunting results into improved detections and containment strategies
- Balance detection/automation benefits with cost and user privacy considerations
- Engage with partner organizations to maintain productive collaborations under changing priorities
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience managing engineering teams
- 8+ years of professional experience building and shipping production software or data systems
- Experience deploying standalone GenAI or agentic workflows to production in detection/response/threat hunting
- Deep domain experience in security detection and response, threat hunting a strong plus
- Experience with large-scale security data platforms, pipelines, enrichment and alert handling
- Experience leading threat hunting or detection engineering teams
- Experience with Spark, Databricks or similar large-scale data processing platforms and streaming alert pipelines
- Experience designing automated or semi-automated response and containment
- Experience scaling a team and shipping results while coordinating with partner services
- Public contributions such as open source work, talks, papers or blogs
- Business acumen to weigh detection/automation benefits against cost while preserving user privacy
